Salt Lake City finale (May 9, 2026) will decide the 450 crown as 250 divisional battles close; MXGP shifts attention to manufacturer moves and tight GP standings
Championship-deciding finale — starts and nerves will write the outcome
Ken Roczen arrives at the Salt Lake City finale with a single-point lead over Hunter Lawrence (332–331), turning tonight’s race into a direct title duel. With so little margin for error, the decisive factors are likely to be the holeshot, early-race positioning and track adaptability under pressure. The 250 East/West divisional battles will be settled the same night, with Cole Davies controlling the East picture and Haiden Deegan leading the West. Expect aggressive gate tactics and teams prioritizing risk management versus outright race aggression based on how each rider assesses their points buffer.
What to watch tonight and supporting content from series media
Series previews and the SMX Insider programming highlight the narrow 450 title margin and the decisive East-versus-West format for the 250 classes. Official previews and animated track maps provide timing and layout detail teams will use to plan starts and rhythm-line strategy; expect teams to reference these materials during warm-up and team meetings ahead of gate drop.
Ducati enters MX2 with Desmo250 MX; Yamaha confirms Reisulis brothers at factory MX2 — both moves reshape the 250 landscape
Ducati Corse Off-Road announced the Desmo250 MX will contest the MX2 World Championship with Team Beddini Racing running Ferruccio Zanchi (MX2) and Simone Mancini (EMX250). At the same time, Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MX2 confirmed Karlis and Janis Reisulis as its two-rider factory package for 2026. These developments alter the competitive dynamics in MX2: a new manufacturer entrant and a strengthened Yamaha youth pathway raise stakes for development, parts support and rider progression into MXGP.
