Deegan’s 450 breakthrough raises the stakes after Columbus

Haiden Deegan’s first 450 race victory was the defining breakthrough of the Columbus weekend. Arriving in the opening playoff round, it established that his premier-class speed can translate into a winning result under postseason pressure.

Levi Kitchen reached the top by a different route. His pair of second-place finishes delivered the 250 victory and rewarded execution across the full program rather than one isolated peak. With the playoff campaign now underway, that consistency becomes an important benchmark for the rest of the field.

The reactions collected by NBC Sports from Kitchen, Jorge Prado, Julien Beaumer and others place those results in the immediate competitive context. Columbus was more than an opening-round result: it identified Deegan as a fresh 450-winning force and Kitchen as the early example of how to manage an SMX playoff weekend.
