The No. 27 joins returning 450SX Rookie of the Year Garrett Marchbanks in Monster Energy Kawasaki’s two-rider SMX program.
Kawasaki’s 2027 lineup combines an experienced race winner with one of the strongest emerging riders from the 2026 premier-class field.
Malcolm Stewart’s move to Monster Energy Kawasaki is both a major 2027 roster change and a return to familiar territory. The No. 27 raced through Kawasaki Team Green during his amateur career and now rejoins the brand as an established premier-class competitor.
His signing gives the factory program a rider with proven 450SX-winning speed and extensive experience across Supercross, Pro Motocross and the SMX postseason. Kawasaki will look for Stewart to turn the consistency shown through 14 top-10 SMX finishes in 2026 into more regular appearances at the front.
Garrett Marchbanks provides the continuity. The 2026 450SX Rookie of the Year will enter his second season with the team after building momentum outdoors and recording five top-five finishes during the SMX portion of the year. Retaining him allows Kawasaki to continue that development without requiring another adaptation to a new motorcycle or team structure.
The pairing therefore carries a clear competitive logic: Stewart raises the lineup’s experience and immediate race-winning potential, while Marchbanks remains a longer-term prospect whose rookie results justified another season in the factory 450 program.
