Hunter Lawrence cuts Ken Roczen’s lead to a single point at Round 16 (May 2, 2026); Haiden Deegan wraps the West season in style; Ducati confirms MX2 factory entry as MXGP issues updated regulations.
Lawrence reduces Roczen’s lead to one point with a dominant Round 16 win; Salt Lake City becomes a straight head-to-head for the championship.

Hunter Lawrence produced a dominant Main Event performance in Denver (May 2, 2026), building a gap large enough to convert to his fifth win of the season and swing momentum away from Ken Roczen. Roczen finished second and retained a razor-thin one-point advantage in the standings; Eli Tomac salvaged third in a strong return. The result eliminates Cooper Webb from championship contention and turns the Salt Lake City finale into a winner-take-all match. The tactical consequence is clear: starts and clean mains will eclipse long-term points management — whoever controls the first laps controls the title destiny.
Haiden Deegan closes the Western divisional schedule with another win, extending season records and heading to the East/West Showdown as the man to beat.
Haiden Deegan continued his season-long run of dominance in the 250 West division, taking the win in Denver to close the divisional regular season with seven victories. Deegan lapped into the top 10 and controlled the race from the front, confirming both individual and manufacturer milestones for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing. With the West title decided, attention turns to Salt Lake City where Deegan will contest the Showdown in what could be a defining 250SMX moment in his career.
MXGP confirms 2026 regulations and welcomes a high-profile manufacturer entry into MX2 — Ducati’s Desmo250 will race under Beddini Racing.

In Monaco the MXGP Commission and FIM approved the 2026 Motocross World Championship and technical regulations, formalizing the rule framework for MXGP, MX2, Women’s and junior classes. Separately, Ducati Corse Off-Road announced the Desmo250 MX will contest MX2 in 2026 with Team Beddini Racing and young Italian riders Ferruccio Zanchi (MX2) and Simone Mancini (EMX250). Ducati’s entrance into MX2 marks a significant manufacturer initiative that could reshape competition and development activity within the category.
