Plessinger signs a two-year deal with 5.11 Triumph Factory Racing
Aaron Plessinger will race for 5.11 Triumph Factory Racing in AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross after signing a two-year agreement to compete on the TF 450-X. The confirmation came immediately after Red Bull KTM closed a five-season partnership that produced 24 podiums across 450SX and 450MX, including two Supercross victories.
The move matters on both sides. Plessinger receives a fresh factory opportunity after an injury-disrupted final season with KTM, while Triumph adds an experienced race winner who can contribute directly to the continuing development of its 450 platform. His profile and established connection with American fans also give the program a significant presence away from the track.
Plessinger is due to make his first official Triumph appearance at the manufacturer’s Global Dealer Conference in Thailand from October 6-9. He will then begin working with the team near Atlanta on base settings for the TF 450-X. His first race in Triumph colors is scheduled for the Paris Supercross in November, giving rider and team an early competitive reference before the 2027 SMX campaign.
AMA confirms the national and career numbers for 2027
The AMA has released the 2027 SMX national and career professional numbers. Riders must use their assigned number unless they are competing as the reigning champion in the class or region where a Number 1 plate was earned.
The champion designations include Jorge Prado in 450 SMX, Levi Kitchen in 250 SMX, Ken Roczen in 450SX, Haiden Deegan in 250SX West, Cole Davies in 250SX East and 250MX, and Hunter Lawrence in 450MX. Away from those championship-specific plates, the career list keeps Aaron Plessinger on Number 7 for his move to Triumph.
Number announcements do not alter the competitive order, but they formalize the grid’s identity for the coming year and confirm which riders have earned championship plates across the SMX disciplines.
