Portugal’s established Grand Prix returns on 22–23 May, while the new Mérida round will race under the MXGP of Extremadura name.
The revised calendar combines the return of a historic Portuguese circuit with a clearer regional identity for Spain’s newest Grand Prix.
Águeda will host the 2027 MXGP of Portugal on 22–23 May, extending a World Championship history that began in 1985. Its orange hard-pack surface, natural amphitheatre and established place on the international calendar give teams and riders a familiar competitive reference amid the development of next season’s schedule.
The Spanish round at Mérida, set for 18 April, will now carry the MXGP of Extremadura title. The change places the host region at the centre of the event’s identity and follows the earlier confirmation that Mérida will join the championship under a three-year agreement covering 2027 through 2029.
With Andalucía opening the campaign on 28 February, Spain will stage two rounds with separate regional identities. The resulting Iberian programme balances expansion with continuity: Mérida begins a new chapter close to the Portuguese border, while Águeda retains the established Grand Prix presence further west.
