Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing adds the 20-year-old on a multi-year deal as it strengthens an already deep SMX roster.
A multi-year factory agreement gives Cochran the platform and time required to turn his amateur pedigree into sustained professional results.
Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing has confirmed Casey Cochran for its 250 factory team beginning with the 2027 SMX season. The 20-year-old joins on a multi-year deal and will race alongside Cole Davies, Kayden Minear, Caden Dudney, Landen Gordon and Pierce Brown.
The move is more than another offseason roster addition. Cochran arrives with a strong amateur résumé and demonstrated speed, but injuries across the previous two seasons have limited his ability to establish continuity as a professional. Yamaha is therefore investing in both his immediate pace and his longer-term development.
For the team, Cochran adds further depth to a lineup built to compete throughout Supercross, Pro Motocross and the SMX postseason. For the rider, the central challenge is clear: stay healthy, adapt quickly to the new YZ250F and convert flashes of front-running potential into consistent results. His first race with the program is scheduled for the Anaheim Supercross opener on January 9, 2027.
